Characteristics

Ascending herb to 20 cm tall, mostly stellate pubescent. Leaves crowded basally, obovate, narrowing basally, dentate to lyrate; lamina 3-5 cm long, 10-15 mm wide. Flowers solitary in axil of basal leaves; peduncle 5-10 mm long, bracteoles linear, c. 6 mm long; pedicel 2-5 mm long, not articulate. Sepals linear to lanceolate, c. 6 mm long. Corolla 12-14 mm long, ±glabrous inside, without enations, obscurely auriculate; abaxial lobes 4-4.5 mm long; wings c. 1.5 mm wide. Indusium broadly elliptic, ±folded. Ovules c. 20. Fruit subglobular, 5-6 mm diam.; valves separate to sepal insertion, sometimes bifid. Seeds elliptic, 2 mm long, aculeate, yellow.
