Characteristics

Annual or perennial herb to 50 cm tall, almost glabrous; tap root to 50 cm long. Leaves linear-lanceolate, entire or dentate, thick; lamina 5-17 mm long, 1-5 mm wide. Flowers in racemes 3-20 cm long; bracts linear, to 20 mm long; peduncle mostly 10-25 mm long; bracteoles 1-2 mm long; pedicel mostly 8-20 mm long. Sepals narrowly triangular, 1-1.4 mm long. Corolla 7-10 mm long, with blunt enations, auriculate; abaxial lobes 2.5-4 mm long; wing c. 1 mm wide. Indusium notched and folded, the two sides of the lower lip appressed. Ovules many, scattered. Fruit subglobular to ovoid, 3-6 mm long; valves entire. Seeds brown.
