Characteristics

Weak, perennial herb to 20 cm tall, softly hairy; root system a tap root and adventitious roots. Leaves linear to oblanceolate, dentate or entire, thick, often glabrescent; lamina mostly 4-10 cm long, 4-8 mm wide. Flowers in racemes; scape to 1.5 times leaf length, usually slightly zig-zag; bracts linear, 5-14 mm long; peduncle 5-15 mm long; bracteoles linear, 3-4 mm long; pedicel 5-12 mm long. Sepals linear-lanceolate, 1.5-3 mm long. Corolla 8-12 mm long, without enations, auriculate; abaxial lobes 4-5 mm long; wing c. 1 mm wide. Indusium square to depressed-oblong, purplish, flat or convex. Ovules many, scattered. Fruit ovoid, 3-3.5 mm long; valves entire. Seeds yellowish brown.
