Characteristics

Perennial herb to 50 cm tall, glabrous or glabrescent; tap root thick. Leaves usually with 1 or 3 conspicuous nerves, linear-oblanceolate, dentate to entire, ±glaucous; lamina 3-8 cm long, 3-10 mm wide. Flowers in racemes to 35 cm long; bracts linear, 5 cm long; peduncle to 8 cm long; bracteoles linear, 2-5 mm long; pedicel 3-6 mm long. Sepals lanceolate to narrowly oblong, 0.5-2 mm long. Corolla 8-10 mm long, without enations, auriculate; abaxial lobes 1.5-3 mm long; wings 0.5-1.5 mm wide. Indusium oblong, 1 mm long, concave. Ovules many, scattered. Fruit cylindrical, 3-4 mm long; valves entire. Seeds yellow-brown.
