Erect or sprawling perennial up to 0.6 m high, clonal. Indumentum a mixture of three hair types, mainly villous (long, dense multicellular, spreading eglandular hairs), 0.5–1.0 mm long, with short glandular hairs on peduncles and floral parts, 50–100 mm long, mixed with short simple hairs 0.1–0.4 mm long. Leaves almost linear to narrowly lanceolate, 34–78 mm long, 1.4–3.8 mm wide, usually flat, entire, sometimes recurved, margin, obscure to prominent midrib, acute apex, pale green, adaxial and abaxial surfaces villous, upper leaves sometimes canaliculate, very gradually tapered at the base; becoming smaller, subsessile and bract-like below the inflorescence.
