Characteristics

Erect, branching shrub to c. 1 m tall, with glandular and simple hairs, glabrescent. Leaves ovate, obtuse at base, dentate; lamina 2-5 cm long, 2-3 cm wide; petiole 1.5-5 cm long. Flowers in racemes or thyrses, to 20 cm long; bracts leaf-like; peduncle less than 1 mm long; bracteoles linear, c. 1.5 mm long; pedicel 4-6 mm long, articulate. Sepals lanceolate, 5-6 mm long. Corolla to 17 mm long, with short, coarse hairs inside, with enations, indistinctly auriculate; abaxial lobes c. 8 mm long; wings c. 2 mm wide, often laciniate. Indusium deltoid, slightly folded. Ovules to 25. Fruit ovoid, c. 10 mm long, valves usually bifid. Seeds broadly elliptic, 3 mm long, brown, dull, colliculate.
