Characteristics

Erect, short-lived or perennial herb to 40 cm tall, silvery hairy. Leaves mostly basal, obovate to lanceolate, sinuate-lobed to entire; lamina 5-10 cm long, 2-2.5 cm wide. Inflorescence a compact spike or spike-like thyrse, to 15 cm long; bracts oblong to linear, to 10 mm long; bracteoles linear, c. 6 mm long. Sepals linear, 5 mm long, adnate to ovary along midrib only except basally. Corolla c. 15 mm long, with stiff hairs inside towards base; lobes ±equal, c. 8 mm long; wings c. 0.5 mm wide. Indusium oblong, 2 mm long. Ovules to 60. Fruit ±cylindrical, c. 6 mm long; valves entire. Seeds elliptic, c. 1 mm long, black.
