Characteristics

Erect perennial to 40 cm tall, glandular, viscid; stock woody. Leaves cauline, narrowly oblong to obovate, dentate; lamina 5-20 mm long, 2-5 mm wide. Inflorescence a spike, to 15 cm long: bracts leaf-like; bracteoles narrowly oblong, c. 7 mm long. Sepals triangular, c. 2.5 mm long. Corolla 6-7 mm long, with short hairs inside; lobes equal, 3-4 mm long; wings 0.3-0.4 mm wide. Ovary with septum about 1/2 its length; ovules 12-16; style with stiff, simple, purplish or white hairs and glandular hairs. Fruit a subglobular capsule, 3 mm long. Seeds elliptic, 1.4 mm long, smooth, glossy; wing c. 0.1 mm wide, white, mucilaginous.
