Characteristics

Ascending to prostrate, annual herb, silky, with simple and multicellular hairs; stems to 30 cm long. Leaves mostly basal, elliptic to obovate, narrowing basally, dentate; lamina 4-6 cm long, 8-15 mm wide; cauline leaves smaller. Flowers in racemes to 30 cm long; bracts leaf-like; peduncle 3-6 cm long; bracteoles lanceolate, c. 4 mm long; pedicel 1-2.5 cm long, not articulate. Sepals narrowly ovate, 6 mm long. Corolla c. 18 mm long, pubescent inside, without enations, auriculate; abaxial lobes 8-9 mm long; wings c. 4 mm wide. Indusium broadly elliptic, folded. Ovules 12-14. Fruit subglobular, 7 mm diam; valves separating to sepal insertion, ±entire. Seeds elliptic, 3 mm long, aculeate, yellow.
