Characteristics

Perennial herb 20–40 cm tall. Stems smooth, with sparse curved or hooked hairs. Leaves alternate, sessile, linear, entire; lamina 10–25 mm long, 1–1.5 mm wide. Inflorescence of 3–5-flowered dichasia, lateral inflorescences in upper axils; bracts linear, 4–7 mm long, entire, green; bracteoles linear, 0.4–0.5 mm long, shortly 2-toothed, yellow-brown. Flowers 4-merous; pedicel 0.4 mm long. Sepals deltoid to ovate, 0.4 mm long. Petals 2.5 mm long, green to red. Stamens 8. Ovary 2-locular (occasionally 1-locular), ±4-ribbed, rugose, scabrous; styles 2. Fruit ±cylindrical, 1.8–2 mm long, 1 mm diam., 4-angled with pronounced deltoid wings near centre, glabrous or sparsely scabrous.
