Characteristics

Perennial herb 25–35 cm tall, stoloniferous. Stems unribbed, pubescent with uncinate hairs. Leaves alternate, lanceolate to oblanceolate or subcuneate, scabrous, green to subglaucous; lamina 12–23 mm long; margins revolute, coarsely dentate. Inflorescence of 3-flowered dichasia; lateral inflorescences in upper leaf axils; bracts lanceolate, 7–13 mm long, toothed; margins revolute, green; bracteoles linear, membranous, 2–4 mm long, 2-toothed. Flowers 4-merous, subsessile. Sepals ovate, 1 mm long, scabrous. Petals 2.5–2.8 mm long, red. Stamens 8. Ovary 4-locular, slightly 4-angled; styles 4. Fruit 1 per axil, oblong, 2.5–3 mm long and wide, 4-winged, pitted and verrucose between wings, scabrous.
