Characteristics

Perennial herb 10–30 cm tall, stoloniferous. Stems weakly ribbed, with sparse conical or curved hairs. Leaves alternate, sessile, linear, entire or shortly 1-or 2-toothed, sparsely scabrous; lamina 5–20 mm long. Inflorescence of up to 5-flowered dichasia; lateral inflorescences in upper arils; bracts indistinguishable from upper leaves, green; bracteoles linear, 1.2–1.4 mm long, deciduous, straw-coloured. Flowers predominantly 3-merous; pedicel 0.1–0.2 mm long. Sepals deltoid, 0.7–0.8 mm long. Petals 2 mm long, greenish yellow tipped red. Stamens 6. Ovary 1-locular, smooth, densely scabrous; style 1. Fruit usually abortive; if present, irregularly pyriform, 1.3–1.5 mm long.
