Characteristics

Perennial herb or subshrub to 50 cm tall, with taproot. Stems ascending, smooth or weakly 5-ribbed, scabrous. Leaves alternate, sessile, linear to linear-lanceolate, almost entire or minutely dentate, sparsely scabrous; lamina 30–45 mm long. Inflorescence of 1–3-flowered dichasia; lateral inflorescences in upper leaf axils; bracts broadly lanceolate, 9–14 mm long, entire, green; bracteoles ovate, 2.5–3.5 mm long, obscurely keeled, almost glabrous, green. Flowers 4-merous, sessile. Sepals ovate to subcordate, 1.3–1.9 mm long. Petals 3–3.2 mm long, green. Stamens 8. Ovary 4-locular, strongly 4-angled, almost glabrous; styles 4. Fruit oblong, 1.7–1.8 mm long, 1.2–1.3 mm diam., strongly 4-angled with a narrow wing on each angle, glabrous.
