Characteristics

Perennial herb 30–50 cm tall, with deep stolons. Stems smooth or weakly 4-ribbed, glaucous, glabrous or with sparse curved hairs. Leaves alternate or subopposite, narrowly lanceolate to oblanceolate, subsessile, obtuse, entire or finely serrulate, glaucous, glabrous or sparsely scabrous mainly on margins; lamina 35–50 mm long. Inflorescence of 1–3-flowered dichasia; occasional lateral inflorescences in upper leaf axils; bracts linear to lanceolate, 5–8 mm long, entire, green-glaucous; bracteoles linear, 0.5–0.7 mm long, entire, brown. Flowers 4-merous; pedicel 0.5–0.6 mm long. Sepals linear-lanceolate, 1–1.2 mm long. Petals 1.8–3 mm long, green to yellow. Stamens 8. Ovary 4-locular, verrucose to rugose, glabrous or scabrous; styles 4. Fruit 1–3 per axil.
