Characteristics

Erect shrub 35–55 cm tall, with taproot. Stems smooth or weakly 4-or 5-ribbed, with dense fine hooked hairs. Leaves alternate, sessile, linear to oblong, obtuse, scabrous; lamina 15–30 mm long; margins weakly revolute, entire or distally 1–4-toothed. Inflorescence of 3–5-flowered dichasia; lateral inflorescences in upper leaf axils; bracts similar to upper leaves, green; bracteoles linear-lanceolate, 0.7–0.8 mm long, entire, straw-coloured. Flowers 4-merous; pedicel to 0.7 mm long. Sepals ovate to narrowly ovate, 0.7–0.8 mm long, glabrous. Petals 1.8–1.9 mm long, red-green to yellowish. Stamens 8. Ovary 2-or 3-locular, smooth, scabrous; styles 2 or 3. Fruit ovoid to depressed-globose, 1.4–2.3 mm long, 1.8–3 mm diam., angled or with deltoid wings between sepals, scabrous.
