Characteristics

Erect perennial herb or small shrub 40–90 cm tall, stoloniferous. Stems 4-ribbed, scabrous with curved hairs. Leaves opposite, sessile, lanceolate to narrowly lanceolate, acute, with 10–30 small teeth, glabrous or sparsely scabrous; lamina 25–60 mm long. Inflorescence of 1–3-flowered dichasia; bracts linear-lanceolate, 5–15 mm long, serrate or entire, green; bracteoles membranous, linear, 0.4–0.5 mm long, entire, brown. Flowers 4-merous; pedicel 0.8–1 mm long. Sepals ovate-deltoid, 0.7–0.8 mm long. Petals 2.4–2.9 mm long, yellow to green. Stamens 8. Ovary 2-locular, slightly flattened, glabrous; styles 2, rarely 3. Fruit oblong to ovoid, compressed, 2–3.5 mm long, weakly 4-ribbed, slightly rugose in lower half, glabrous.
