Perennial herb 25–50 cm tall, with taproot. Stems 4-ribbed, scabrous. Leaves opposite, sessile, linear-lanceolate, scabrous; lamina 25–40 mm long; margins revolute, with up to 12 short teeth. Inflorescence of 1–3-flowered dichasia; bracts linear, 2.5–5.5 mm long, entire; bracteoles membranous, linear, 0.5–1 mm long. Flowers 4-merous; pedicel 0.2–0.3 mm long. Sepals lanceolate, 0.6–0.9 mm long. Petals 2.4–3 mm long, brown. Stamens 8. Ovary 4-locular, smooth; styles 4. Fruit ovoid to globular, 2.5–2.7 mm long, scabrous, verrucose or almost smooth.
