Erect or procumbent, monoecious annual herb 2–4 cm tall. Leaves alternate, linear to terete, entire, lowermost rarely trifid; lamina 1.2–3.5 mm long. Bracteoles linear, 0.2–0.3 mm long, straw-coloured. Flowers 4-merous, sessile, solitary. Male flowers: sepals absent; petals 0.4–0.5 mm long, red; stamens 2. Female flowers: sepals and petals absent; ovary 4-locular; stigmas sessile, white. Fruit globular, yellow-brown to reddish; mericarps ovoid, 0.6–1 mm long, oblique apically, smooth to minutely granular.
