Characteristics

Presumably a small tree, branched, the ultimate branchlets rather ascending, ± cylindrical, pale greyish brown; youngest parts ± angled and with prominent horizontal scars left by the fallen stipules.. Leaves deciduous, ± confined to the extreme apices of the twiglets; blades rather thin, somewhat discolorous and mostly brownish beneath, narrowly elliptic, 2.8–7 cm. long, 1–3 cm. wide, apex narrowly acuminate, the acumen acute, cuneate at the base, a little shining above; venation reticulate and ± prominent on both surfaces; petiole 3–5 mm. long; stipules triangular-lanceolate, 5 mm. long, 1.2 mm. wide at the base, very soon deciduous.. Flowers sessile, axillary, usually solitary but sometimes paired, sometimes appearing falsely fasciculate; bracts triangular, 1 mm. long.. Sepals somewhat fleshy, green, ovate-lanceolate, 3–3.5 mm. long, 0.8–1 mm. wide, distinctly acuminate, connate at the base for ± 1 mm.. Petals narrowly oblong, 6.5 mm. long, 2 mm. wide, clawed, bearing irregular nectaries.. Stamens 10; filaments white, 4–6 mm. long, joined at the base for ± 0.5 mm.; anthers brown, 0.8–1 mm. long..
