Branched shrub or small tree (0.9–)1.8–6 m. tall with smooth bark.. Leaves elliptic to oblong-elliptic, 1.5–9.2 cm. long, 0.7–4.6 cm. wide, rounded or obtuse at the apex, cuneate to rounded at the base, fairly thin, drying pale green, and somewhat shiny above, brownish beneath; venation fine, closely reticulate and prominent on both surfaces; petiole 3–7.5 mm. long; stipules lanceolate, 5–7 mm. long, very soon falling.. Flowers sweetly scented, subsessile in 1-several-flowered axillary fascicles.. Calyx 2.5–3 mm. long, divided into acute triangular-lanceolate lobes ± 1 mm. wide for most of its length.. Petals white, linear-oblong to linear-spathulate, 1.2–1.5 cm. long, (2.5–)4–5 mm. wide, rounded at the apex, narrowed to the base.. Short-styled flowers: stamens persistent, 5.5–7 mm. long, the filaments united into a shallow cup barely 1 mm. long at the base; styles 1–2 mm. long..
