Characteristics

Liana 5–50 m high; trunk 1–15 cm in diameter; branches greyish black-brown, with many orange to grey-brown lenticels; branchlets brownish grey to pale grey, smooth, with many orange to grey-brown lenticels, glabrous or sparsely pubesent.. Leaves petiolate; blade obovate, 4–18 cm long, 1.4–10 cm wide, acuminate, often emarginate at the apex, cuneate at the base, glabrous, rarely puberulous on midrib, dark to medium green and glossy above, dull and distinctly paler beneath, with 3–10 pairs of secondary veins; tertiary veins inconspicuous; domatia of pits with ciliate margin, sometimes absent; petiole 7–22 mm long, glabrous, rarely slightly pubescent, glabrescent, with 1–3 pairs of glands on the adaxial side.. Inflorescence 3–11.5 cm long, rusty brown-pubescent; bracts ovate to triangular, up to 1.6 mm long; pedicels 2–3.5 mm long.. Flowers with sepals broady ovate to triangular, 0.8–2.1 mm long, 0.6–1.2 mm wide, rusty brown-pubescent; corolla yellowish or whitish green; tube cylindrical, 2.2–3.8 mm long; lobes narrowly ovate, 1.7–5.8 mm long, 1–1.7 mm wide, outside puberulous to glabrous; corona later white, 0.4–0.8 mm long, pubescent or glabrous at the base; stamens inserted 0.6–1 mm from the base of the tube; style 0.1–0.2 mm long; ovules 30–50..
