Perennial scapose loose to very dense cushion-plant, with a deep, sometimes many-headed taproot, subglabrous to sparsely hairy.. Stems 1–few, very short or practically absent to ± as long as the rosette leaves.. All leaves rosulate, petiolate, 5–50 mm. (petiole included), obovate to oblanceolate in outline, sinuately pinnatifid to pinnatisect (rarely unlobed), with 3–6 pairs of obtuse entire 1–6 mm. long lateral lobes; terminal lobe ovate to obovate, with rounded apex, entire, 2–13 mm. long.. Raceme dense, with several rather small flowers, often crowded close to the bottom of the rosette, in fruit concealed within the rosette or protruding, up to 8 cm. long, dense to rather lax; pedicels spreading, 6–14 mm. long.. Sepals oblong, obtuse, 1.5–4.5 mm. long.. Petals white, often with a tinge of violet, spathulate to somewhat clawed, exceeding sepals, 2.4–6.3 mm. long.. Siliqua usually curved, 10–35 mm. long, 0.6–1.3 mm. broad; style narrow, 0.5–1 mm. long.. Seeds brown to blackish brown, ellipsoid, ± 1 mm. long, ± 0.5 mm. broad, minutely verrucose.. Fig. 23, p. 65.
