Characteristics

Perennial rosette-plant with a taproot. Hairs simple, forked or stellate. Racemes ebracteate. Sepals nearly erect, not saccate. Stamens 6, tetradynamous; anthers acutely ovate; filaments linear. Nectarial tissue almost surrounding the lateral stamens (as distinct glands at each side of them), and as marked ridges outside each pair of median stamens. Ovary cylindrical, with somewhat narrower short style; ovules numerous. Fruit a siliqua, dehiscent, with thin 1-nerved valves. Seeds biseriate.
