Characteristics

Trees dioecious, with resinous buds and often milky sap; hairs simple. Leaves paripinnate. Flowers white to yellowish, in axillary thyrses. Sepals 5, free, imbricate. Petals 5, free, imbricate. Staminal tube irregularly lobed with anthers on margin of tube, or with distally free filaments with 2 apical appendages; anthers 10, glabrous. Disc obscure, annular. Ovary 2–4-locular; locules 1-ovulate; stylehead conical. Drupe 2–4-locular; mesocarp fleshy to leathery; endocarp woody, hard. Seed ovoid to orange-segment-shaped, with thin sarcotesta.
