Characteristics

Climber with twining stems, creeping by clinging roots when young; young stems finely pubescent; latex clear. Juvenile leaves ovate, 1.5–5 cm long, cordate at base. Adult leaves spreading, soft to firm, minutely brown-pubescent; petiole 6–45 mm long; lamina broadly lanceolate to ovate, 7–19 cm long, 2.4–7 cm wide, 2–5 times as long as wide, rounded to broadly cuneate or occasionally cordate at base, acute at apex; veins impressed to slightly raised above, with coarser net veins distinct below. Inflorescence of axillary and terminal many-flowered panicles; axes finely brown-pubescent; pedicels 7–9 mm long. Calyx lobes ovate, pubescent, appressed to corolla. Corolla yellowish; tube c. 1–1.3 mm long; lobes revolute, linear, 5.5–6.5 mm long, pubescent externally, densely bearded internally at base. Anther cone c. 3 mm long, strongly exserted; filaments c. 4 mm long, spirally twisted to almost straight, pubescent; anther tails straight or convergent. Nectary scales narrow, c. 1.3 mm long, acuminate. Capsules narrowly ovoid, 6–10 cm long, 1.8–2.6 cm diam., minutely pubescent.
