Characteristics

Slender twiner to 6 m high; new growth puberulous, with older stems glabrous; latex opaque, milky. Juvenile leaves narrow, hastate. Adult leaves glabrous; petiole 9–20 mm long; lamina narrowly triangular to broadly ovate, 3–12 cm long, 1.4–5 cm wide, cordate or rounded-truncate at base, long-acuminate to a fine point, green to purplish on lower surface; secondary veins 6–9 pairs, prominent, with minor veins barely visible. Inflorescence of axillary and terminal, umbel-like cymes, with 3–11 flowers; axes puberulous; pedicels 3–5 mm long. Calyx lobes puberulous, appressed. Corolla cream or yellowish, glabrous except for beard at throat; tube inflated, ovoid, 2–2.5 mm long; lobes recurved, oblong, 3–4 mm long, acute. Anther cone c. 2.6 mm long, ± enclosed, exserted only at tip; filaments slightly twisted; anther tails slightly divergent. Nectary scales free, entire. Capsules slender, very narrowly terete, 5–7 cm long, c. 0.5 cm diam., glabrous.
