Characteristics

Tall climber with twining stems; branchlets finely pubescent; latex clear. Leaves thin; petiole 6–16 mm long, pubescent; lamina ovate or ovate-lanceolate, variable in size, 3–9 (–11) cm long, 1–4 (–6) cm wide, rounded or cordate at base, long-acuminate to a fine point or sometimes short-acuminate at apex; upper surface green, shiny, glabrous or veins hairy, rarely pubescent; lower surface green, finely hairy along veins, sometimes pubescent; secondary veins conspicuous, with transverse, coarse reticulum distinct above. Inflorescence of axillary, divaricately branched panicles, with long peduncles and rachises; axes pubescent; pedicels 1.5–4 mm long. Calyx lobes appressed, ovate, 1 mm long, pubescent. Corolla cream to yellow; tube cylindrical or slightly inflated, 1.6 mm long, pubescent outside, bearded inside at throat; lobes thick, erect or spreading, oblong-lanceolate, c. 1.8 mm long, brown-pubescent externally, glabrous internally except for a tuft of retrorse hairs at base. Anther cone 2 mm long, enclosed or tip exserted; filaments 0.3–0.5 mm long, straight; anther tails divergent. Nectary scales free, fleshy, 0.6 mm long, truncate with 4 short lobes on top. Capsules very slender, terete, 10–21 cm long, 0.4–1 cm diam., finely hairy.
