Characteristics

Tall climber with twining stems; branchlets finely pubescent; latex clear. Leaves thick, tough; petiole 20–35 mm long; lamina oblong, broadly oblong or oblong-obovate, 4–12 cm long, 1.5–5 cm wide, rounded or cuneate at base, obtuse to rounded-acute or retuse at apex, apiculate, glabrous or minutely pubescent below; upper surface with net veins impressed or flush and inconspicuous; lower surface with secondary veins raised, and net veins often distinct but scarcely raised. Inflorescence of large, terminal, many-flowered panicles; axes finely pubescent; pedicels 3–5 mm long. Calyx lobes lanceolate, pubescent. Corolla white or yellowish; tube cylindrical, 1 mm long; lobes strongly recurved, linear, 4–6 mm long, glabrous except densely pubescent internally at base. Anther cone c. 2.7 mm long, long-exserted; filaments c. 3 mm long, spirally twisted; anther tails strongly convergent. Nectary scales free, ovate, c. 0.8 mm long, acute. Capsules narrowly ovoid, 6.5–11 cm long, 1.2–1.7 cm diam., finely pubescent.
