Characteristics

Climber with slender, twining, glabrous stems; young shoots puberulous; latex clear. Leaves glabrous, purple or purplish black when dried; petiole 5–15 mm long; lamina lanceolate to narrowly ovate, 4–9 (–11) cm long, 1.5–4 cm wide, rounded or slightly cordate at base, acute or acuminate at apex; coarser reticulations visible on undersurface. Inflorescence of axillary and terminal open panicles, with (6–) 9–20 flowers; axes minutely puberulous; pedicels slender, 4–7 mm long. Calyx lobes ovate-lanceolate, appressed, c. 1.5 mm long, puberulous outside. Corolla pale yellow or cream; tube c. 1.7 mm long, shortly hairy at throat; lobes spreading, recurved, ovate, c. 2 mm long, glabrous or with isolated, fine hairs externally, glabrous internally to near base, with a white tomentum of short reflexed hairs at base. Anther cone c. 3 mm long, 1/3-exserted; filaments c. 2 mm long, straight; anther tails diverging. Nectary scales free, fleshy, c. 0.6 mm long, truncate. Capsules very slender, very narrowly ovoid, 7–10 cm long, 0.5–0.8 cm diam., ± glabrous.
