Characteristics

Tall climber with twining stems, glabrous except corollas; older stems with prominent corky outgrowths; latex clear. Leaves soft to firm; petiole 8–20 mm long; lamina oblong-lanceolate to lanceolate or oblong-elliptic, 5–15 cm long, 2–5 cm wide, rounded or occasionally cuneate at base, abruptly acuminate to shortly acute, pale green below; secondary and net veins obscure below or secondary veins just distinct below. Inflorescence of axillary and terminal cymes with 3–20 flowers; axes glabrous; pedicels 3–8 mm long. Calyx lobes narrowly lanceolate, 2.5–3 mm long. Corolla yellowish; tube cylindrical, 2–3 mm long, bearded at throat; lobes ascending or spreading, narrowly lanceolate, c. 7 mm long, glabrous. Anther cone 3–3.5 mm long, exserted from tube; filaments long, twisted spirally together, glabrous; anther tails convergent. Nectary scales free, thin, broad, 0.6–0.7 mm long, c. 0.8 mm wide. Capsule semi-woody, broadly cylindrical to narrowly ovoid, 15–20 cm long, 2–5 cm diam., glabrous.
