Characteristics

Climber with twining stems; stems glabrous or pubescent; latex clear. Leaves green, soft, thin; petiole 5–12 mm long; lamina lanceolate, oblong-lanceolate or ovate, 4–15 cm long, 1.5–5 cm wide, cordate or rounded at base, long-acuminate, glabrous or with lower surface softly pubescent; tertiary veins distinct below, forming backwardly curving connections between the raised secondary veins. Inflorescence of short, axillary, umbel-like cymes; axes puberulous or finely pubescent; pedicels 2–7 mm long. Calyx lobes ovate, hairy. Corolla whitish; tube inflated, globose, c. 3.5 mm diam., bearded internally; lobes widely spreading to recurved, ovate, 2.5–3 mm long, glabrous. Anthers lightly cohering, readily separable, each with a prominent dorsal ridge; anther cone c. 3 mm long, half-exserted; filaments short, straight or slightly twisted; anther tails diverging, broad. Nectary scales connate in a ring with c. 10 short, apical lobes. Capsules slender, fusiform, 9–15 cm long, 0.6–1.2 cm diam., puberulous.
