Characteristics

Small climber with thin, glabrous, twining stems; latex clear. Leaves almost glabrous, moderately thin, firm; petiole 1–7 mm long; lamina lanceolate or narrowly deltoid, 2–6.5 cm long, 0.4–1.7 cm wide, rounded-truncate or cordate at base, recurved marginally, gradually acute, apiculate; upper surface blackish when dried, lower surface pale brown when dried; secondary veins 5–11 pairs. Inflorescence of axillary, rarely terminal, compact cymes, with 2–7 flowers; axes finely hairy; pedicels 3–8 mm long. Calyx lobes narrowly lanceolate, spreading, glabrous. Corolla cream, sometimes tinged pink; tube slightly inflated near base, c. 2.5 mm long; lobes spreading widely or recurved, oblong-lanceolate, 3.1–3.2 mm long, finely and sparsely hairy externally, conspicuously bearded internally from base for half to two-thirds their length. Anther cone 3.2 mm long, half-exserted; filaments 2 mm long, straight; anther tails straight. Nectary scales free, fleshy, oblong, c. 0.8 mm long. Capsules narrowly cylindrical to narrowly ovoid, c. 13 cm long, 0.7 cm diam., glabrous.
