Characteristics

Tall climber with twining stems; branchlets pubescent, brown; latex clear. Leaves soft; petiole 15–40 mm long; lamina broadly ovate, 6.5–14 cm long, 4.5–8.5 cm wide, rounded, truncate or shallowly cordate at base, abruptly narrowed to a drawn-out fine point; upper surface pubescent or scabrous, dark brown; lower surface velvety pubescent, brown; secondary veins and coarser net veins distinct below; domatia absent. Inflorescence of axillary and terminal panicles with 9–35 flowers; axes pubescent; pedicels 2–4.5 mm long. Calyx lobes ovate, pubescent, appressed. Corolla cream; tube 2–3 mm long, subglobose at base, bearded at throat; lobes recurved, lanceolate, 2.7–3 mm long, pubescent externally, thickened medianly above with 2 grooves, glabrous internally. Anther cone 2.5 mm long, half-enclosed; filaments short, straight; tails divergent. Nectary scales free, ± square, obtuse. Capsules ellipsoidal, widened near base, 17–19 cm long, 1.7–2 cm diam., dark brown, finely pubescent.
