Characteristics

Understorey trees, probably dioecious. Leaves pinnate; leaflets in 2–9 pairs, glabrous with exceptionally prominent minor vein reticulum. Inflorescences borne on the trunk and branches, thyrsoid, pseudo-racemose or spike-like. Flowers regular; calyx united basally to half way or more, 5-lobed; petals absent; disk circular, broad, forming a flat platform. Stamens 7–8; filaments folded in bud. Ovary deeply 3-lobed; style equalling the ovary, 3-grooved. Fruit indehiscent, shallowly or deeply lobed or of 1–several scarcely joined mericarps. Seed without aril.
