Culms 0.2–0.6 m high. Inflorescences 4–11 cm long. Spikelets 5.2–6.5 mm long, with 2–3 florets. Glumes slightly exceeding florets, acuminate; lower glume 5.2–6.5 mm long, 3-nerved, scaberulous along nerves. Lemma: body 2–2.8 mm long; lobes 1–1.3 mm long, shorter than body, entirely fused to themselves (body apparently entire or tridentate), without setae; awn absent or minute. Palea 2.6–3.6 mm long. Anthers 2.2 mm long, yellow or purple. Caryopsis 1.4–1.5 mm long.
