Characteristics

Rhizome short-creeping, up to 5 mm in diam., with spaced phyllopodia up to 5 mm long, densely scaled; scales centrally dark brown, margins paler and fimbriate, lanceolate, up to 4 x 0.6 mm. Fronds articulated, spaced, erect, up to 450 mm long. Stipe firm, terete, sparsely scaled at base, glabrous higher up. Lamina coriaceous, oblong to ovate, deeply pinnatifid; lobes linear, up to 135 x 10 mm, acute to obtuse, weakly serrate to shallowly crenate, glabrous adaxially and abaxially. Costa convex adaxially and abaxially; venation reticulate, without included veinlets. Sori round, up to 3 mm in diam., in a single line on either side of costae.

Rhizome c. 5 mm in diameter, set with linear-lanceolate, fimbriate, clathrate, black to dark brown rhizome-scales c. 3 mm long with a paler margin. Fronds spaced 5-30 mm apart, erect, coriaceous; stipe pale brown, up to 150 mm long; lamina oblong to broadly lanceolate, coriaceous, glabrous, rarely simple, deeply pinnatifid almost to midrib into linear, weakly undulate and shallowly crenate lobes up to 140 x 10 mm, acute to rounded apically and with de-current bases; midrib prominent below. Sori round, up to 2 mm in diameter, set in a line on either side of costa and sunken into lamina.
