Characteristics

Stems 8-20 mm thick. Pedicel 3-5 mm long, ascending and holding flower facing upwards. Corolla 10-18 mm diam., ± rotate; inside whitish with purple-brown to purple-red dots (often coalescing into red-purple patch beneath differently coloured apex) from middle of lobes to centre of corolla, plain reddish brown or deep to pale yellow towards apex of lobes (rarely purple); lobes 5-8 mm long, 2.0-3.1 mm broad at base, spreading to ascending, lanceolate, usually with slight constriction near middle, thickened towards apex, sometimes with a few cilia up to 1 mm long along margins below thickened apex. Corona 2.0-3.0 mm diam., reddish brown to dark purple, mostly raised on stipe up to 0.5 mm long; outer lobes erect, shortly to deeply bifid into diverging to erect lobules; inner lobes usually ± equal to or exceeding anthers, ± rectangular, obtuse to truncate-emarginate, dorsiventrally flattened, sometimes with short erect truncate emarginate ridge-like dorsal projection.
