Characteristics

Bracts green in upper half or three-quarters, submembranous in lower part, reaching more or less to the bases of the perianth segments; inner bract often with wide, white membranous margins. Flowers (45-)55-80 mm long. Perianth tube 13-33 mm long, equal to or slightly shorter than the segments; segments 25-45 x 8-15 mm. Style 30-50 mm long.

Cormous geophyte, up to 400 mm high. Leaves slender; blade filiform, 150-400 x ± 1 mm. Flowers: perianth with a narrow tube, widened in upper part, 13-33 mm long, segments 8-15 mm wide, golden-yellow becoming orange at base, 3 outer segments brownish purple outside; Jan.-Mar.
