Cultivation

Origin: in Carbondale, Ill., by J.W. Hull, U.S. Dept. of Agriculture and Southern Illinois Univ. Introd. in 1985. SIUS 47 × Thornfree; cross made in 1968; tested as SIUS 68-6-17. Tree: vigorous; semi-trailing thornless canes; very productive; cold hardy. Resistant to cane blight. Propagates readily by tip layering, softwood cuttings, or micropropagation. Fruit: large, high quality, very firm; does not soften or lose color in hot weather; ripens late, with Thornfree.
