Origin: in Fayetteville, Ark., by J.N. Moore, Elvin Brown, and W.A. Sistrunk, Arkansas Agr. Expt. Sta. Introd. in 1974. Darrow × Brazos; cross made in 1965 by Moore; selected in 1968; tested as Ark. 527. Tree: erect; vigorous; productive; suckers freely from roots; adapted to mechanical harvest or home gardens; same reaction to major diseases as Raven. Adapted throughout Arkansas. Fruit: very large; skin black, attractive; flesh firm, quality good; ripens 4 days before Cherokee.
