Origin: in Santa Rosa, Calif., by Luther Burbank. First announced in print in 1920. Parentage unknown. Tree: very vigorous; very productive; canes thornless, long; begins to bear 1 year later than other blackberry varieties. Fruit: medium-large; skin black; flesh firm; very sweet; quality excellent; ripens late, Sep­tember to November.
