Flowers with sepals suborbicular, imbricate, more or less united at base; petals free, thick-membranaceous; stamens 10, gla-brous, the 5 opposite sepals longer than alternate ones, the filaments thick, flat-tened, the thecae 2, unilocular, basal, the connective ovate-acuminate, acute; disc cupular, dentate; carpels opposite sepals, the ovary 5-locular, the cells uni-ovulate, the style as long as or exceeding stamens, the stigma capitate and 5-lobate. Fruit a medium-sized to large drupe, ellipsoid or subglobose, smooth, the endocarp woody, filled with resinous cavities, without foramnina, the valves covering whole surface of endocarp so not apparent, with 10 very narrow, hardly visible longitudinal furrows; seeds oblong, usually 1-2 per fruit.
