Characteristics

Leaves with petiole to 5 cm long; lamina elliptic-ovate, to 12 cm long, 9 cm wide, cordate to lobate at base, acuminate, glabrous or with scattered to sparse hairs when young; secondary veins 2 or 3 from near base of midrib; colleters 7–14. Flowers c. 4 mm long, 13–15 mm diam.; pedicels 5–12 mm long. Sepals ovate, c. 3 mm long. Corolla rotate; lobes ovate, 5–6 mm long, 4–5 mm wide, with upper surface papillose, blackish red or brown. Corolline corona absent; staminal corona sunken in corolla throat, with each lobe depressed-ovoid, c. 1 mm long, c. 1 mm wide. Pollinia globose. Follicles not seen.
