Characteristics

Perennial herb without basal leaf rosette.. Stems 25–80 cm long, erect to procumbent, unbranched or branched, stem angles scabrid-denticulate, especially below the nodes.. Leaves sessile, orbicular or elliptic-ovate, 8–26 mm long, 12–19 mm wide, apically obtuse to truncate, base rounded to truncate to subcordate.. Inflorescences few-flowered, partial inflorescences (1–)3–4 flowered; pedicels 9–37 mm long, pedicel of the terminal flower always shorter than pedicels of lateral flowers; bracteoles orbicular or elliptic-ovate, 6–9 mm long, 3.5–4.5 mm, obtuse.. Flowers (4–)5-merous.. Calyx lobes 2 wider than others, obtuse to truncate, leaf-like, reflexed or spreading, obovate-spatulate or lanceolate-spatulate, 2.5–4 mm long, 1–1.8 mm wide.. Corolla white inside and greenish-or purplish-white outside; tube very short, 1.2–1.3 mm long; lobes elliptic or elliptic-oblong, 4–4.5 mm long, 1.5–4 mm wide, obtuse to truncate; nectaries 2 per lobe, greenish-yellow, circular or oblong in outline, 0.5–0.9 mm diameter, 0.4–0.8 mm apart, 1.7–1.9 mm from base of corolla lobes, margins fimbriate, fimbriae filiform, 1–1.5 mm long, quite variable on the same nectary.. Stamens with filaments 3.4–3.8 mm long, scale-like projectionspresent at their attachment point to the base of the corolla lobes; anthers elliptic or oblong, 1.2–1.3 mm long.. Ovary ovoid-ellipsoid, compressed, 3–3.5 mm long, 1.1–2 mm diameter; style obsolete; stigma bilobed, lobes 0.8–0.9 mm long, 1–1.7 mm diameter, obtuse; parietal placentae conspicuous.. Capsule ovoid-ellipsoid, 8–8.5 mm long, 3–4 mm diameter.. Seeds brown, 0.6–0.7 mm diameter, surface ± reticulate.
