Characteristics

Inflorescence erect, simple, 5–30 cm. high; peduncle filiform, straight, glabrous above, minutely papillose at the base; inflorescence axis straight; flowers 1–7, distant; scales numerous, similar to the bracts; bracts basifixed, ovate with apex acute, up to 0.8 mm. long; bracteoles narrowly oblong with apex obtuse, about as long as the bracts; pedicels up to 1 mm. long.

Corolla mauve or pale blue with a yellow spot on the palate, 7–14 mm. long; superior lip broadly ovate with apex truncate, 3–5 times as long as the upper calyx lobe; inferior lip reniform with apex distinctly 3-crenate; palate raised, distinctly 4-gibbous; spur subulate, acute, about 1.5 times as long as the inferior lip.
Calyx lobes unequal, flat, minutely papillose, the upper lobe circular with apex emarginate, c. 1.5 mm. long, the lower lobe much smaller, ovate or oblong with apex emarginate.
Traps numerous on the stolons and leaves, ovoid, 0.4–0–8 mm. long, stalked; mouth terminal with a dorsal fringe of c. 5 glandular hairs.
Seeds numerous, ovoid, somewhat angular, c. 0.2 mm. long; testa smooth, the cells indistinct, more or less isodiametric.
Ovary ovoid; style more or less obsolete; stigma inferior lip semi-circular, superior lip much smaller, oblong.
Capsule globose, 1.5–2 mm. long, dehiscing by dorsal and ventral lanceolate pores.
Leaves scattered on the stolons, obovate-spathulate, c. 10 ×1 mm., 1-nerved.
Rhizoids and stolons capillary, numerous at the base of the peduncle.
Filaments filiform; anther thecae sub-distinct.
