Characteristics

A bamboo. It forms tufts. It grows to about 9 m tall. The stalks are slender and hollow. The sheaths on the stalks have streaks. The leaves are 5-10 cm long by 0.8-2 cm wide. They are papery and narrowly sword shaped. They are smooth on both surfaces. The tip ends in a bristly point. The edges are rough with very small teeth. The flower is brownish.
