Cultivation

Heritage Canadian ornamental blue honeysuckle, also called “Sweetberry Honeysuckle,” adapted to cold regions of Alberta. Origin: Agricultural Research Station, Beaverlodge, Alberta, Canada. Selection of Russian L. caerulea subsp. pallassii made in Canada; introd. in the 1920’s; propagated by seed by Canadian nurseries. Tree: very cold hardy. Fruit: small; bitter; poor quality.
