Cultivation

Large fruited blue honeysuckle that is well adapted for northern and northwestern Russia. Origin: N.I. Vavilov Institute of Plant Industry, Pavlov Experiment Station, St. Petersburg, Russia, by F.K. Teterev and Z.A. Koroleva. F2 L. caerulea from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatski City; selected in 1973; introduced by M.N. Plekhanova in 1987. Named for the experiment station. Tree: medium yield, 1.5 kg/bush. Fruit: midseason; large, 1.2 average with largest fruit 1.3 g/; ascorbic acid content higher than most 69 mg/100 g; sugar 7.8% SS.
