Perianth segments free or fused into tube with 6 equal lobes. Stamens 6, attached to perianth lobes, equal or in 2 series; anthers dorsifixed, versatile, dehiscing by slits, introrse. Ovary inferior, trilocular; ovules few to many per locule; style filiform; stigma trilobed or trifid. Fruit a loculicidal capsule. Seeds few to many, flat, D-shaped, black.
