Stamens 4, didynamous, inserted on corolla-tube; anther-cells divergent, often confluent at apex. Style slender, stigma 2-lamellate. Capsule compressed-globose, loculicidally dehiscent; seeds ∞, minute. Small herbs, often prostrate and rooting at nodes with stems above or below ground. Lower lvs opp. or rosulate, upper often alt. Some 15 spp. ranging from N.Z. through Tasmania, Australia, Malaya, India, China, to Formosa.
